Rosa’s Voices From The Frontline Fund Invests Over £355k For Women & Girls

“If you are serious about wanting to see real progress and change in women’s lives… you need to fund women’s organisations. It is these organisations that drive and sustain change and progress”.  Rebecca Gill, Rosa CEO

Rosa is proud to announce that 37 organisations led by and for women and girls have received grants of up to £10,000 through Rosa’s Voices from the Frontline fund. Grants will support campaigning and influencing work that enables women and girls to use their voice to achieve change.

Women’s and girls’ organisations have the power to change our world for the better.  Together they dismantle systems that harm us and our society. Every bit of progress that has benefited women and girls over the past 200 years has happened thanks to women mobilising, leading and building movements for change. Rosa is their expert funder and we know the power of our sector. Voices from the Frontline is one of only a few funds in the UK that enable women’s and girls’ organisations to deliver activism and campaigning and to raise awareness among power holders of the issues women and girls face. Without the continued efforts of campaigners and activists in the women and girls sector, discrimination, exclusion, and cultural and societal barriers will remain and they will continue to harm all of us.

The organisations funded through Voices from the Frontline will be campaigning on a broad range of issues, including women’s health inequality, elder abuse in South Asian women, the impact of menopause on the workplace, period poverty, domestic abuse, the stigma related to child removal, barriers to employment for Asian women, culturally sensitive gynaecological support, sexual harassment in higher education spaces and drink spiking.

Among the organisations receiving grants are: Sophie Hayes Foundation in London to support campaigning work calling for the women survivors of modern slavery and trafficking to have the right to work. Karma Nirvana in Yorkshire to improve understanding, and challenge misconceptions of Honour Based Violence amongst national policy makers and frontline professionals; ADHD Babes to raise awareness about the lack of support for Black women and non-binary people when accessing ADHD diagnostic services and post-diagnosis support; and Motherwell Cheshire to raise awareness of systemic injustices in the family court system and target policy change.

Florence Igboayaka, CEO of The Period Place, said:
“This funding from Rosa is a powerful step towards ensuring that all women, especially those with period-related conditions, have their voices heard and their needs met. We are honoured to be part of this movement for change.”

Ru Wang, VP of fundraising at UK Chinese Women Connect, said:
“UK Chinese Women Connect is incredibly grateful to receive the Voices from the Frontline Fund from Rosa. This funding will enable us to launch our media campaign, Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling, aimed at fostering visible leadership among Chinese women, challenging negative stereotypes, and empowering them to advocate for themselves. We are excited to drive meaningful change and make a lasting impact in our community !”

Shaila Pervez, Manager of Roshni Birmingham, said:
We are deeply grateful for the support from the Rosa Fund, which enables us to amplify the voices of Black and Minoritised survivors of domestic abuse. This funding will allow us to create a platform where their experiences are heard, valued, and acknowledged. Through this initiative, we aim to foster empowerment, raise awareness, and contribute to lasting change in how society addresses and supports survivors from all backgrounds.”

The fund supports a wide range of organisations across the UK. Of the 37 funded organisations, 7 are from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Rosa prioritises organisations where the funding need is greatest. 14 of funded organisations are in the top 20% most deprived areas of the UK and 9 are organisations led by and for Black and minoritised women and girls. 19 are receiving funding for national campaigns and 14 for local campaigns

Rosa will be delivering training and peer learning for all funded organisations.

Rosa would like to thank everyone on the Voices from the Frontline Grants Panel for their guidance and support in selecting the successful grantees. Thank you also to donors, Trustees, staff, and supporters, without whom this fund would not be possible.
