Where our funding goes

We are a grant-making charity that’s dedicated to empowering women and girls throughout the UK. We provide funding and support to help organisations run their services, support their communities, amplify their voices, and bring attention to the issues they care about.

Through our three main funding programmes, we offer grants to organisations across the UK.

  • Our Rise Fund supports the growth and development of Black and minoritised-led organisations.
  • Our Voices from the Frontline Fund invests in campaigning and advocacy work, which raises the voices of women and girls on issues that matter most to them.
  • Finally, our Stand With Us Fund provides support to frontline organisations working to address male violence against women and girls (VAWG) across the UK.

Stand With Us Fund

The Stand With Us fund offers one-year grants of up to £25,000 to support organisations addressing violence against women and girls (VAWG) in the UK.

The fund began as part of a movement, led by Reclaim These Streets, that inspired thousands of people to speak out against male violence in the wake of the appalling kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard. Since the launch of the fund, Rosa has used the money donated to fund frontline organisations supporting women and girls whose lives have been devastated by male violence.

In recent years, we have seen an increasingly hostile environment for women and girls. The cost of living crisis has meant that cases of violence against women and girls have escalated as male violence and coercive control increase during times of economic hardship. At the same time, women and girls are less able to escape abusive situations because they cannot afford to leave.

We are currently fundraising for the next round of the fund which will open for applications later in 2024. Please donate here.

You can read more about the first round of the programme here.

Rise Fund

The Rise Fund invests in the future of organisations led by and for Black and minoritised women and girls across the UK with grants of up to £40,000.

We know that Black and minoritised-led organisations face significant and systemic barriers to funding and frequently operate on very limited resources. Through this fund, we support work relating to areas such as strategy, governance, leadership, alliances and partnerships, demonstrating impact and systems and processes. The fund was developed through a collaborative process that actively included women with experience of racial injustice.

The fund is currently closed, but more information about the programme can be found here.

Past Funds

Women Thrive Fund

The Women Thrive Fund, developed in partnership with the Smallwood Trust, has been a crucial source of support for organisations working tirelessly to tackle issues that have been amplified by the Covid-19 pandemic. These issues range from declining mental health and heightened risk of emotional trauma. Thanks to the Women Thrive Fund, these organisations have been able to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.

This fund is no longer running, but you can find out more information here.

Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund

During the pandemic, we launched two emergency response funds to meet the needs of women’s and girls’ organisations. Our Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund and our Emergency Response Fund for BME Women’s Organisation raised over £2.2 million and reached 110 organisations across the UK.

These funds are no longer running, but you can find out more about the programmes here.

Justice and Equality Fund

Launched in 2018 from a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign that raised nearly £3 million, the Justice and Equality Fund aimed to tackle the culture of sexual harassment, abuse and impunity in the UK by resourcing a network of advice, support, and advocacy organisations. With our funding, grantees were able to deliver innovative projects to address sexual harassment in workplaces, communities and in public spaces.

This fund is no longer running, but you can find out more about the programme’s impact here.
