Voices from the Frontline fund

32 organisations led by and for women and girls have been chosen to receive the latest round of funding through Voices from the Frontline, which offers grants of up to £10,000 over and 18-month period to support campaigning and influencing work that enables women and girls to use their voice to achieve change.

Since 2016, Rosa’s Voices from the Frontline programme has funded 120 women’s and girls’ organisations to campaign on a range of issues, including abortion access, flexible working, support for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, maternal health care for Black and minoritised women, and better representation for women in politics.

Several organisations chosen this year will use funding from Rosa to hold workshops that will give women and girls the confidence and skills to challenge the injustices they face. Some will host awareness raising events to tackle issues affecting Black and minoritised women and girls, while others will launch petitions to call for greater gender parity in politics.

All funded organisations will be raising the voices of women and girls in their local communities and using their collective power to push for a fairer, safer society in which to live.

Resourcing campaigning and advocacy work

There is a critical need for funding for women’s and girls’ organisations to deliver activism and campaigning, particularly at the grassroots, and to raise awareness of the issues that women and girls face.

Women’s and girls’ organisations have the knowledge and expertise to make transformative change happen. Many have spent years building trust with the women and girls in their communities and have a deep understanding of their lived experiences. Yet, despite their knowledge and insight, there is still a tragic lack of funding for campaigning and advocacy across the sector.

Without the continued efforts of campaigners and activists in the women and girls sector, discrimination, exclusion, cultural and societal barriers will remain. Rosa’s Voices from the Frontline fund supports this vital work by bringing together women and girls who are passionate about a cause and harnessing their collective strength to push for change.
