AKAYA Foundation has been awarded £9,700 to support Black girls in London with unseen mental health problems to influence schools, mental health services and local authorities about inequalities in mental health services.
AKAYA Foundation works in the UK and Ghana to empower young Black women on their leadership, wellbeing and career journeys through support programmes, mentoring and events.
“Receiving support from Rosa’s Voices from the Frontline fund is a powerful affirmation of the work we are doing to centre and uplift young Black women and girls. As a small, volunteer-led organisation, this funding comes at a pivotal moment enabling us to strengthen our foundations, invest in our leadership, and build a more sustainable future. It allows us to not only continue our work, but to grow it with intention, impact, and the communities we serve at the heart of everything we do.” Dr Khadija Owusu, Founder, AKAYA Foundation
